What this site is

Okavango Guide is an independent, non-selling guide to the Okavango Delta in Botswana. We do not operate safaris, hold inventory, take bookings, or issue tickets. We publish what we can substantiate about the flood cycle, access, camps and costs so that you can make the decision yourself — or take a better-informed question to an operator.

That independence is the point. A site that sells a specific camp has a reason to tell you its season is longer than it is. We do not have that reason.

How we state prices

Every price on this site is indicative, quoted per person sharing per night unless stated otherwise, and stamped with the date it was verified (currently 2026-09-25). We publish bands rather than pretending to quote, because rates move with season, availability and currency. Always ask the operator for a firm quote for your dates.

We also state what is not included where it materially changes the number — bush flights, levies, park fees — because a rate that looks comparable and isn't is worse than no rate at all.

How we handle season and water data

Seasonal claims are month-level and marked as the pattern rather than a forecast. Water levels in the Delta vary meaningfully from year to year, and no page here should be read as a prediction for a specific season. Confirm current conditions with the camp before you commit to dates, especially if a particular activity like mokoro is the reason you are going.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, outdated, or stated more confidently than the evidence supports, tell us and we will correct it and date the change. Our corrections page exists for the errors we see repeated most often — including ones we have made.
